Posted @withregram • @j_howarthsbelper Just a quick notice. As of this morning, we have decided that we think it’s safer for everyone that we implement a ‘no more than 3 customers in the shop at one time’. This is for everyone’s safety. We are only a small shop, and can fill quickly so feel this is the best cause of action. We have 3 members of staff in the shop who are working as quickly as possible to get everyone served! Please bear with us, and we apologise if this means you have to wait a little longer than usual.

Posted @withregram • @wingfieldtom Don’t get me wrong, I’m a huge fan of the Peak District, but when your an hour away from most of the best spots and your sat at home watching the sky turn to fire at sunset and wish you could quickly get to a decent spot to get some bangers, it’s not ideal, well guess what, I’ve found somewhere a little closer to home, just a 10 minute drive to be precise in my home town 🏻 it’s time I found some spots a little closer to home for those last minute trips out 🏻 . . . . . . . .

Posted @withrepost • @visitderbyshire Did you know that Belper, Derbyshire was the first place in the UK to get gas lighting? ~ From at least the 13th century there were forges in the Belper and Duffield areas and iron-working became a major source of income, particularly nail making. By the end of the 18th century there were around 500 workshops in the town supplying nails to the newly built textile mills. The workshops were eventually superseded by machinery during the 19th century. Some of the nail-makers' houses are still in existence and form part of local tours of the town. ~ This beautiful shot was captured by @lee_collyer

Posted @withrepost • @britainbycameraphone The River Gardens have been described as Amber Valley's 'Jewel in the Crown '. Band concerts take place here fortnightly on Sundays between May and September, as well as a well dressing festival in July. The boating lake is open throughout the summer, as well as a children's play area, poetry trail and duck pond. The gardens are maintained by Amber Valley Borough Council and a non-profit making group of volunteers called The Friends of Belper River Gardens. May 2019.
